Today you will travel to Kandy. It is a city filled with lots to see, located in the lower hill region, surrounded by tea estates. Go on a guided food walk this evening with a local guide; explore markets, eateries, and enjoy snacks and street foods.
Be guided around Kandy today, and its Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Later, visit the Temple of The Sacred Tooth. It can be busy, but it is a wonderful insight into Buddhism and local culture.
Travel north this morning, to the impressive caves in Dambulla. Dating back to the 1st century BC, the site consists of temples carved into the rock, with panoramic views. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at your nearby hotel.
Climb Sri Lanka's iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress this morning before exploring the nearby ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa is still a devout holy city; you're likely to see brightly robed monks and pilgrims dressed in white, with floral offerings.
Travel onward to Anuradhapura for the next two nights. Explore the ancient city by bicycle with your guide before relaxing at your pool villa at your hotel.
